I think the scene has been growing at a very rapid rate. One of the major issues with the scene however is that the independent artists aren’t able to tap into the mainstream business because there aren’t enough avenues for them to obtain a level of mass exposure. I think there has been a great increase in the number of venues and events in the city, but at the same time you also see a number of artistes playing the same venues and events over and over again, while the newer ones either get overlooked, or are forced to play inconsequential slots or shows. This makes it difficult for artistes to really garner a mass support.
